King James II donated in fief Castle Guadalest to Bernardo de Sarrià in 1293 and here begins a period of 42 years, during which the castle and the whole region belong to the Sarrià family.

This wonder of Altea has more than 30 years of history, and increasingly, it brings together different boats in the bay of Altea to be able to contemplate the pyromusical show in all its splendour.

The event, which has grown over the years, was born from a tribute to the local pyrotechnic Blas Aznar, “Uncle Blai, the rocket ship”, who died years ago. A special fireworks display was launched in his honor and since then, the Castell de l ’Olla has matured into what it is today.

El Castell de l'Olla is recognized with the distinction of the Tourism Merit award, in the gold category of the 1999 edition, awarded by the Provincial Tourist Board of the Costa Blanca and in 2007, declared a Festival of Interest Tourist of the Region by the Generalitat Valenciana.
